Tom Hoffman Speaks to Foresters on Protecting Land Assets
Tom Hoffman speaks on Wednesday, August 30 at the annual Rural and Community Forestry Meeting in Lock Haven. Pennsylvania service foresters and the watershed forestry team will attend and learn about using estate planning, trusts, and limited liability companies to protect forestlands.
Specifically, attendees will learn about estate planning strategies and the use of income-only trusts for Medicaid/long-term care planning, which can provide protection from potential future ex-spouses of children, creditors of children, and other unexpected events that would otherwise necessitate the sale of forestland (if owned outright and not in trust). Another benefit of the trust planning is the reduction or elimination of federal estate and Pennsylvania inheritance taxes.
Tom speaks often to a variety of groups on estate planning, tax law, asset protection, shale energy planning, trusts, charitable giving, business succession planning, and more.
