Timothy Wachter Speaks on Federal Opportunity Zones

Timothy Wachter, Shareholder and lead for Knox Law Public Strategies, speaks today at the Erie Club's Monthly Lunch Speaker Series. He will address Federal Opportunity Zones and Erie's Resurgence.

Opportunity Zones are a community development program established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities nationwide. The program provides a tax incentive for investors to re-invest their unrealized capital gains into Opportunity Funds that are dedicated to investing into Opportunity Zones designated by the chief executives of every U.S. state and territory.

Attorney Wachter has been leading the Opportunity Zone discussion in Erie. Through that effort, Erie has been recognized as a national thought leader in preparing for the development of funds through Opportunity Zones and Opportunity Funds.
