Timothy Wachter Appointed to Regional Water Resources Committee
Timothy S. Wachter, Shareholder, has been appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf to be a member of the Lake Erie and Genesee Basin Regional Water Resources Committee.
The committee will prepare a regional plan component for incorporation into the State Water Plan, which provides planning tools and guidance for those who make decisions that affect the Commonwealth's water resources or make decisions based on adequate quantity and quality of water. Pennsylvania's plan has not been updated since 2009, and so this process will be critical to future activities. The State Water Plan, as it relates to Lake Erie, must comply with the international compacts and treaties with Canada agreed to by all of the other great lake bordering states and Canadian provinces.
Mr. Wachter will work with other committee members and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Office of Water Resources Planning.
At Knox Law, Mr. Wachter regularly advises governmental, business and nonprofit clients on highly complex legal, regulatory and public policy related matters. He also regularly provides counsel on matters related to the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law to dozens of agencies throughout Western Pennsylvania, is recognized as a national thought leader in Federal Opportunity Zone Development and regularly advises businesses and stakeholders regarding Opportunity Zone investments.
