Michael A. Fetzner Receives Chancellor of the Bar Award
Michael A. Fetzner received the 2015 Chancellor of the Bar Award from the Erie County Bar Association (ECBA) at its annual Law Day celebration on Friday, April 24, 2015. The award honors the ethics and integrity of attorneys who have been in good standing in the bar association for more than 30 years.
Attorney Fetzner has been the long-time chair and emcee of Law Day and has been active in both the Erie County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations throughout his career. He has served as ECBA President, Treasurer and other leadership capacities over the years. Mr. Fetzner serves on the Board of Governors for the Pennsylvania Bar Association and as a Fellow with the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. He is also currently a member of the Advisory Board of Penn Attorneys Title Insurance Company and serves on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Erie YMCA and Village at Luther Square.
Law Day was first observed under President Dwight Eisenhower in 1958 and was established to remember and reflect on our rights and responsibilities as citizens. The ECBA's celebration of Law Day is designed to celebrate our Constitution and our country's legal heritage.
This year's celebration featured The Honorable Tom Ridge as keynote speaker. Other awards given were The Liberty Bell to retired Erie City Councilman Pat Cappabianca and the Pro Bono Award to Attorney Adam Barnett. Past recipients of the Chancellor of the Bar Award from the Knox Law firm include Jackson D. Magenau (1968), M. Fletcher Gornall (1988), John M. McLaughlin (1993), Harvey D. McClure (2001), Wallace J. Knox, II (2003), William C. Sennett (2007) and Harry K. Thomas (posthumously, 2012).
