Mark Wassell Speaks on the ADA and other EEO Laws in the Era of COVID-19
Mark Wassell, Shareholder, will speak for the Lawrence County Career Link's Employer Advisory Council monthly meeting on Friday, November 13. The webinar will begin at 8:00 a.m. and address "The ADA and other EEO Laws in the Era of COVID-19."
On September 8, 2020, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission published a technical assistance guide containing questions and answers relating to application of employment discrimination laws to circumstances created by COVID-19. Mr. Wassell will summarize key information that is relevant to the most common issues arising in the workplace. Topics to be covered include those relating to an employers’ rights and obligations when monitoring their workforce to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, accommodating employees who are at a high risk of contracting the virus, and providing the option of working from home.
Mr. Wassell speaks often for this group, which typically meets monthly, in-person. This year's meetings are mostly being held virtually.
At Knox Law, he counsels and defends employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, and has actively advised clients regarding COVID-related issues in the past few months.
He represents employers in a range of sectors including manufacturing, financial services, healthcare and education. His practice includes hiring and termination issues, claims of discrimination and harassment, drug testing, employee handbooks, employment and severance agreements, grievance arbitration, and collective bargaining. He frequently handles matters before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board, and similar state agencies. He also conducts in house training programs for employers on a number of employment topics and speaks often to a variety of business and HR groups throughout western Pennsylvania and beyond.
